You can't import it to the U.S., so there's very little demand. Japanese people don't want to touch "high mileage" cars and the old sports cars/super cars of old (high gas prices, maintenance costs, taxes, etc.). I was amazed when I found this stuff, too! It's a shame so many great old cars are left to rot there.

Do that many actually get left to rot, or are there just big stacks of them that they've struggled to export while the yen's been quite high the last few years? Loads of these sorts of things used to get imported into Britain a few years back, but I've not seen so many '90s Japanese cars around recently.

You watch though, in the next ten years these cars are gonna start to rocket back up in price. As the day that they're allowed passage into the states draws closer and closer they will become desireable.

I'm half tempted to ask one of my japanese friends to assist me in buying, storing, and transporting a car some time in the next decade.
